WHO WE ARE: Strangers Helping Strangers: just to lend a hand is a volunteer group based in Bergen County, New Jersey. We raise money and collect food and pantry donations, buy groceries for families in need, purchase PPE for the Healthcare Heroes in the trenches and on the front lines, support local businesses by purchasing meals from them and donating the food to a new hospital a week, as well as help in any other ways possible. We are here to help Bergen County and surrounding areas.

WHAT WE DO:

 

-Helping Those In Need: People in need can fill out our Aid Request form. We have bought groceries for many families in need and will continue to do so.

-PPE: We have purchased N95 masks, as well as surgical masks and gloves and donated them to hospitals and other healtcare facilities. We also have made bags with sets of masks and gloves free for the public.

-SMALL BUSINESSES: Every week, we have been purchasing food from local small businesses and donating to hospitals, police & fire depts., and first responders. This iniative helps both the small businesses, as well as the heroes on the front lines.

-APPRECIATION SNACK BAGS: We make bags filled with energy snacks, gum, mints etc. and give them out to healthcare workers, cops, firemen, and first responders. Additionally, local students have provided letters of thanks and artwork, which we cut, laminate, and place in the bags hopefully to brighten their day.

WHO WE’RE PRIORITIZING: We are prioritizing those most vulnerable and affected by COVID-19 : the homeless, the sick, elderly, disabled, those quarantined without pay, and those limited in work.
